House prices increased by 5.0% in the year to December 2017, according to figures published by the ONS. The main contribution to the increase came from England, where house prices increased by 5.0%. By December 2017 the average price in England stood at £244,000. Wales and Scotland saw prices rise by 5.4% and 7.7% respectively.

By November 2017 the average price in England stood at £243,000. Wales and Scotland saw prices rise by 4.5% and 3.6% respectively.
