Energy supply
The supply of electricity in the UK has three main components:
- The generation by power stations Electricity transmission via a grid.
- Distribution via regional networks – Since privatisation in 1991 the Transmission Network Owners (TNOs) are The National Grid in England and Scottish Power in Scotland.
- The distribution operators include: EDF Energy, CE Electrics, Central Networks and United Utilities
The energy regulator is OFGEM.
