Normative statement

Normative statement – definition

A normative statement is one that cannot be tested or verified and is based on a value judgment.

For example, stating that the price of housing is ‘too expensive’ is a normative one as it is based on a value judgement and cannot be tested to be ‘true’ or ‘false’.
